Was it cold, yes, was it wet, thankfully no just splashy, was it fun…..we’ll of course it was. Who needs July with warm air…. and warm water and the crowds, and I can assure you in July there will be not be hot Starbucks after the cleanup, just FYI.

a kayak, on a rainy cold overcast winter day??

Or the ground crew, who  despite the wind and the crowd, (read in cute girls) still got after it for the group…….

Well…that’s exactly what you get when you have a Frat from UTD, a group of young go getters that has concerns for the environment and are willing to walk the walk, and not just talk!

These guys showed you can have lots of fun while out with your buddies

keeping the lake litter free, and at the same time, and without words expressing just how you feel at people who litter…

It was 20.2 degrees air temp and 31 degrees water temp so……

Thanks to Marvin, Steve, Brian Todd, and Grace ice covered WRL is a cleaner place. Colder maybe but cleaner for sure!  It hard to tell from this picture but the guys had to be ice breakers in the kayaks for this shot!

When we say kayaking is cool WE mean it!

For the oldest finisher at 84 years young!!! Way to go!!!!

This is mile number 9, cramps in the

lower back and both legs, but ………..determined to finish the race!

Despite injury, and cold weather Eldon posted the winning time for 84yr olds

at  3 hours 53 mins and 4 sec   + he walked from mile nine to the finish.

An least you forget……

You to can be a course guide!! It’s just something we do every year to help support the For the Love of the Lake Group, and go have fun watching the runners enjoy their early morning run in Dallas.

We have the split between the 1/2 and the full, so lots of folks count on us to NOT make then run farther than 13 miles!!!   NO JOKE!!! 

Meet at the Starbucks in Casa Linda 6:30am and we’ll hand out T’s and hot drinks before the convoy to ….

at mile 9.06 McCommas and Central and 9.07 McCommas and McKinney same as last year!

and be on station till about 10:15 then back to the real world with a T shirt and hopefully a good memory of volunteerism to finish out 2009!
