So with the wacky weather…you know hot then cold

Wet then dry, remember enjoy the rain it might not rain

from March to October it been….well   wacky…..

We had some interesting developments………

1st The Beaver Pond at LLELA

Its ready for paddling…….

Such a cool paddle trail and so close to the us too!

workout at the lake..just a quick workout and a little nature

nature with a 4 paws big claws and big teeth too…..

You never know who…or what your going to see but…

That is exactly what makes life fun!

Gosh….. Steve was rehabbing an arm and was shooting

from the front of the double kayak and got some great

shots!

Including a red tail hawk…in flight, Wow Steve kudos!!!

He also got the Great Blue Heron in a tree….

And not to be outdone with just birds, he got a mammal too

No NOT WENDY…. there’s a armadillo …look close…

STOP DREAMING  & START PADDLING!

At LLELA…… yes that’s right, we got locked out of LLELA last Friday night and the campout was called off……….for the manhunt.

It seems that while under arrest a handcuffed man escaped from the Lewisville pd somewhere along 121 and was thought to be in the park. Accordingly  the park was closed. Later on Saturday we were made aware that the manhunt was called off and the lockdown was lifted…YEA!!!!

So what became of the handcuffed man? Well maybe it’s our local version

of   D B Cooper without the plane, and the money of course.

We looked for him on the river……

But we were more interested in the fun we were having than someone else’s legal issues…

  That’s Mary showing off her “WOOHOO” skills in the 1st rapid……

And the night was cool but the day was great lots of sunshine on the river!

We hit the beach but this day no one opted for the river float…go figure….

For a cleanup…..

The wind was from the southeast so our little corner of the lake was nice and clam….

Cold…..

but nice and calm…. check out this cup from Ken…..

its frozen inside!

We had a great start to the new year with some new folks

And what clean up would be complete without some of our

returning superstars???

If you want to see dedication to the keeping the lake clean

No Ed didn’t really drink that, we were just goofing around

But Ed did care enough, as did we all.. to get up, show up

and clean the lake…just fyi… it really needed it

We got out on the water some, it was actually warmer than

standing on the ground…. go figure!

Se we started 2012 with a really solid cleanup….

We had about 14 people, which is amazing that we got

all this …..

Including old chairs..

cooler lid….

and a tire… with the rim!

For those that braved the new year you got a …….

Just our way of saying Thanks for helping keep the lake

clean and making it a better place to paddle for all!

What a day, this time we got lucky and the weather was tough to start and got better as the clocked away to …

Perfect weather at the Lake!!!

And because we had perfect weather….

No one was board……

Ahahahahahahaha…OK on the other pics…

despite the ahem…conditions   we gather a bunch of trash!

To make that even more impressive we did it with only

a few folks, few but all trash hounds through and through!

And if you like the board word play….you would have…

had a ball with us today too!

course guides!

he stayed out in the rain to make sure no runner got lost at this intersection, but hey…

THANKS to all our volunteers, including….

Charito’s kids, (y’all were great!), Bubba, Ken, Jackie, Karen, Terri, Michael, Raney, Eldon, and more!

It takes a lot to get up very early on a cold wet winter day.

A lot like …Starbucks, a free race T, and the need for fun!

And speaking of fun, a big shout out to the local law enforcement we had working at this corner, these guys ROCK!

They are everything you would expect of the high standards of the Dallas Police, we thanks them for keeping us safe..

today and everyday!

this was the bad we had too,

these are young rocks singing their own songs and guess what, their good…real good,

I have some of the song on video along with some of the runner, check back for a shorter than 22 min video I shot!

Some of our group couldn’t stand watching so this year they ran a relay, congrats to Brian Grace Nettie Wanda and Heather for earning their medals in the 1/2 marathon!

Join us in 2012 for another great race, assuming your not

racing…………………!

in volunteering for the

White Rock Marathon

as course guides, again this year.

Come out and cheer on the runners and be a part of the fun

too, we’ll even include an official T shirt for your service!

John us at the Starbucks in Casa Linda on Sunday the 4th

bright and early at 7 am sharp, we’ll hand out T’s and maps

and other stuff and make sure your pre briefed for the race.

2. Ross left onto Greenville

3. Greenville left onto N Munger

4. N Munger right onto Live Oak

5. Live Oak left onto N Haskell and to the finish.

Riverside dining on the Elm Fork……

It’s starts off as a typical day on the river, lots of fun excitement and adventure awaits us….. (you can read about the Eco Tour on the previous blog!)

We round the corner at the 1/2 mile mark and we find some

riverside dining, hum…….make that “in” river dining!

This Picnic Table  was table part down when I

found it, So I moved it to

hopefully let it start drying

out, I had some plans for

later, to get it back in service

at LLELA, who knows we

may need it next time we camp!

So (after the Eco Tour we..)

we floated back down

river with a couple of kayaks

and flipped the table over on

top of the double kayak, we used it

as a raft to cross the river to the road side….

We had a air team….running surveillance, Thanks Girls!

the water team & the ground team..

The ground team was waiting with the  support

gear….a rope and a truck!

We got the tabled up on edge

table side down and used the horsepower to bring it up on

the ground…..

We recovered the second kayak and got the table on the

truck ready for the short drive back into service at LLELA

So the wayward table is

back in service at LLELA someone is using it today and

they have no idea just what journeys that picnic table has 

been on.. they just know it supports the food and the drinks

and provides a place for the family to be together and have

fun outside.

So next time those rowdy folks that break the rules and get

a little frisky with the furniture at the camp  and start to

think about how to express their style of humor…..

YOU BETTER THINK AGAIN!!

Because you don’t want to mess with TEXAS

and you sure

don’t want to mess with these men either!
